Audra Performs in Ragtime Reunion Concert

On March 27, Audra reunited with the Ragtime cast for Entertainment Community Fund’s one-night-only benefit reunion concert. This much-anticipated concert, which took place at the Minskoff Theater in New York, celebrated the 25th anniversary of Ragtime’s Broadway opening and raised more than $1 million in support of the programs and services to help people in the performing arts and entertainment community. 

Most of the original broadway cast of the Ahrens and Flaherty musical performed, including Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Peter Friedman, and Judy Kaye. Lea Michele, who originated the role of “Little Girl”, introduced a tribute segment honoring Ragtime company members who have passed away. Tony award-winning actress Kelli O’Hara played “Mother”, a role that was originally performed by the late Marin Mazzie.

Other featured cast members included Mark Aldrich, Shaun Amyot, John D. Baker, Jack Baumrind, Darlene Bel Grayson, Dara Paige Bloomfield, Sandra M. All proceeds from this one-night only benefit concert, ​​as well as net proceeds from the sale of merchandise, support the Entertainment Community Fund, a national human services organization that addresses the unique needs of people who work in performing arts and entertainment with services focused on health and wellness, career and life, and housing. 

Critics’ Choice Award Nomination

For the third time in her career, Audra has been nominated for “Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series” for her portrayal of Liz Reddick in The Good Fight. Other nominees in this category include Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon), Carol Burnett (Better Call Saul), Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus), Julia Garner (Ozark), and Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul).

Additionally, The Good Fight has been nominated for “Best Drama Series” alongside Andor (Disney+), Bad Sisters (Apple TV+), Better Call Saul (AMC), The Crown (Netflix), Euphoria (HBO), House of the Dragon (HBO), Severance (Apple TV+), and Yellowstone (Paramount Network).

The 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards, hosted by Chelsea Handler, will take place on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Glamour’s 2022 Women of the Year Awards

On November 1, Audra McDonald presented Angela Basset with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 Women of the Year Awards, hosted by Glamour.

In her remarks, she honored Ms. Basset by saying, “Think about the way she sits with strength, and truth, whether it is on the stage, screen, you cannot take her eyes off of her, can you?  […] I can think of no one more deserving of Glamour’s Lifetime Achievement Award than Angela Bassett, a woman who I deeply admire, revere, and honor, for all the stories that she weaves, the barriers she has broken, and the inspiration and leadership that she provides in our industry and to the next generation of artists.”
